Programme Description

Pedagogy

The programme employs a dynamic approach to education, combining traditional classroom lessons with interactive sessions, seminars, and workshops led by eminent senior professors. Modern teaching tools, including LCD screens and audio-visual gadgets, enhance the learning experience. Various assignments, projects, and practical activities are designed to hone students' skills. In addition to regular tests and internal assessments, students are evaluated on their practical and creative skills. The curriculum includes role-play sessions, presentations, group discussions, debates, book reviews, and case studies to ensure comprehensive development.

 

Programme Outcome

By the end of the eight semesters, students will have gained in-depth knowledge in their core subjects along with proficiency in areas such as civilization, culture, social behaviour, economy, literature, psychology, politics, and journalism. They will develop critical thinking skills, preparing them for various job opportunities in both government and corporate sectors. Prominent career paths include civil services (IAS, IFS), research, and postgraduate studies. The department proudly acknowledges its alumni who have secured admissions to prestigious universities like Hyderabad Central University, Delhi University, TISS, and APJ universities.

Quest for Excellence

To maintain high academic standards, the college conducts periodic unit and class tests, along with internal assessments. The teaching methodology is periodically revised to align with market needs. Mentor-mentee relationships are fostered to support slow learners, providing weekly counselling on academic and personal development. The faculty organizes guest lectures, seminars, quizzes, and budget-review sessions to enhance the learning experience.

 

Infrastructure

Location: Block 2, UG and Administration Building

Library: The department library houses a vast collection of books by renowned authors, with new editions added annually.

Computer Lab: Equipped with internet facilities to aid students in learning and online examination systems.

Seminar Hall: A seminar hall equipped with the latest audio-visual technology, LCD projectors, and comfortable seating arrangements for digital classes, seminars, guest lectures, and workshops.

 

Placements

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC) works alongside the department to connect students with industry professionals and conduct periodic placement drives. The CGPC also assists students in attending off-campus drives. In collaboration with the CGPC and SDC, the Department of Arts provides training and preparation for successful interviews. After the seventh semester, several reputed companies visit the campus, offering multiple career opportunities. 

 

Prestigious Events

Mock Parliament: An eagerly awaited annual event where students under the guidance of the HOD and the lecturers represent political parties and leaders (dressed as politicians), debating current issues similar to the actual parliament.

Mock Budget Session: An event where students review policy-making in Indian administration and economy, presenting a mock budget session.

Budget-Review Session: An interactive session on the country's annual budget is held, after which students submit their reviews to the respective teachers.
