DEPARTMENT OF BBA

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) was started in 1992. Since its inception it has been trying to maintain good standards in terms of quality and results. The department not only strives for academic excellence of the students but also to enhance their core competence. The faculty members are known for their expertise in Accounting, Finance and other related subjects of Commerce and impart practical knowledge on the subjects. Talks, paper and computer presentations, Business Line News review are conducted to enhance the skills of the students. Our objective in commerce and management education is not only to promote managerial skills but also to provide the right kind of work ethics, professional expertise and leadership in all spheres of life.

UNIQUE FEATURES:

Apart from imparting the curriculum prescribed by the University, the following unique features are an added attraction.

1) Business Line: Every student is provided with a copy of “Business Line”, a corporate news paper from “The Hindu”. A separate period is allotted for conducting a class on the news analysis from this paper.

2) Add - On Courses: Although these courses are not a part of the University curriculum, yet their importance cannot be ruled out in the practical world. The Add – on Courses conducted by this department are -

u  Business Etiquette.

3) Case Study from Harvard Business Review Every week one case study published in Harvard Business Review is discussed in the Class room. Interactive sessions are followed by it.

AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

·         Awarded with ‘Best Department – UG’ by the college Management for the academic year 2009-10.

·         N K Mahesh, HoD, Department of BBA was awarded ‘Best Teacher Award’ for the year 2018-19.

·         Dr Vinay Chaitanya Ganta was awarded with Young Scientist award in the year 2020 by VDGOOD Technology.

VBV Reddy Awards:

This department conducts three unique competitions in the name of Sri V B V Reddy, the former President of the College which are very unique in their nature and content. They are:

·         Test on Knowledge in Current Corporate Affairs

·         Test on Knowledge in Elements of Commerce

·         Test on Competence in English

These competitions are conducted for the students of Visakhapatnam district. There is no entry fee. Each question paper contains 100 questions with multiple choices. OMR sheets are provided for marking answers, and evaluation is done by OMR Scanner. There are three prizes viz., the first prize carries a cash prize of Rs.3,000/-, second prize of Rs.2,000/- and third prize of Rs.1,000/-. Apart from these, best participant students from each participant college are given a cash prize of Rs.500/-.`
