PROFILE

Master of Commerce (MCom) is one of the most sought after career-oriented professional programs offered at the master’s level. The course was introduced in the year 2018, with affiliation to Andhra University. The 2-year course delves deep into all functional areas of Commerce, like, the economy, capital, revenue, trade, taxes, market demands and opportunities, etc. It introduces Multinational Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Marketing and Project Management.  This program lays a path for individuals to become Entrepreneurs, Financial geniuses, Chartered Accountants, or Financial Managers and Leaders with ample opportunities in corporations, small businesses, non-profit organisations, banks, outsourcing, insurance, audit and consulting firms, governmental agencies, e-commerce industry, and more. The department highly encourages professional development and scientific discourse.

PEDAGOGY

The Department takes utmost care to ensure effective teacher-student relationships for enhanced learning environment. Seminars, Workshops and Guest Lectures by Industry professionals are organised at regular basis. Case studies, Role plays, Presentations, Discussions, Debates, and a lot of exposure to current affairs are majorly highlighted upon. Apart from the course work, students are exposed to different Skills and Personality development programmes, which include Soft skills and Communication skills training, Analytical skills training, Tally, GST, various Online examinations, and others.

Objectives

The main objective of this course is to educate the student to evolve conceptual, applied and research skills as well as competencies required for effective problem solving and right decision making in routine and special activities relevant to Accountancy and Banking.
1. The objective of this Programme is to impart systematic and rigorous learning and exposure to Banking and Accounts related disciplines.
2. Graduates will be able to apply frameworks and tools to arrive at informed decisions in profession and practice.
3. Students will be competent of making a positive contribution to commerce, trade and industry in the national context.
4. Graduates with flair for self-employment will be able to initiate and build upon entrepreneurial ventures.

Journal Club

The Journal Club, a locus with a string of activities that help students understand the current trends of the society, and the burning topics on the globe throughout the year.  Discussions, Debates, Presentations, Workshops, etc., take place here every alternate week. Students are trained to become confident and assertive individuals. 

Industrial Visits 

Periodic visits to various industries under the guidance of facilitators to understand the functionality of the companies visited. Few companies that come under this category are BHEL, Visakha Steel Plant, Visakhapatnam Post Trust, etc.
