PROFILE

The two-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme is affiliated to Andhra University and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), New Delhi. The programme offers a single specialisation in Marketing Management, Financial Management, and Human Resource Management. To integrate core business fundamentals with essential specialised skills, the department provides add-on courses with a particular focus on soft skills and communication skills. These activities support dynamic learning, equipping students to navigate the evolving business landscape. Students are cultivated to enhance their leadership abilities, decision-making capabilities, strategic and analytical acumen, social and interpersonal skills, global outlook, creativity, and innovation.

Pedagogy

Each curricular subject is allocated four sessions per week during a semester. In addition to the conventional blackboard and regular classroom setup, teaching is enhanced with the use of LCD projectors and audiovisual equipment in seminar halls. Learner-centric methods, such as case studies, role plays, quizzes, presentations, assignments, mini-projects, discussions, and debates, are prioritised. Workshops, seminars, and field visits play a major role in the learning process.

A well-equipped computer lab with internet access is available to help students utilise information technology for their studies and familiarise themselves with online examination systems for various recruitment processes. The subjects and delivery mechanisms are periodically updated to align with market needs. Active student participation through teamwork, mentorship, and group projects provides an added advantage to their educational experience. Counselling sessions are also provided to support students academically and personally.

Research Centre

Research is the backbone of an academic institution. The Research Centre aims to achieve world-class excellence in research that addresses critical issues in the business realm, both in India and internationally. In 2014, Andhra University recognised this department as one of its research centres for admissions to M. Phil. and Ph. D. programmes in Management Studies, under both full-time and part-time schemes (Office Order AUCST/SG(3)/Recognition of Res. Centre/2014 dated 23.07.2014).

Management Club

The Management Club operates as an "of the students, by the students, for the students" entity, allowing students to develop skills in organising and managing professional events. It serves as a platform for the expression of a variety of skills, including artistic, literary, and managerial. Activities of the club include organising guest lectures, paper presentations, role plays, debates, quizzes, cultural programmes, sports events, and various competitions, such as Ad-Mad and Brand War. These activities encourage students to manage responsibilities independently while enhancing their professional development.

HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT

Dr Anjana Raviprolu serves as the Head of the Department of Management Studies (PG) and Associate Professor at Dr Lankapalli Bullayya College, Visakhapatnam. With over 15 years of experience as an academician and mentor, she specialises in Marketing and Human Resources Management. Dr. Raviprolu is a member of the Board of Studies for the BBA programme at Andhra University and has authored numerous national and international publications in esteemed journals, including Huazhong University and the International Journal of Emerging Technologies and Innovative Research. She is also a member of the Management Committee of the Indian Society for Training and Development (Visakhapatnam Chapter), a member of the editorial board of reputed international journals, and a reviewer for various prominent publications such as the Asian Research Journal of Arts and Social Science and the Current Journal of Applied Science and Technology.

Her contributions to academia extend to international conferences, where she has served on both the Scientific Committee and the National Advisory Committee. A gold medallist in PGDFM, Dr. Raviprolu holds a Ph. D., MBA, and MHRM, and has qualified for the UGC NET and APSET examinations.
