Information Technology sector is the fastest growing industry globally. The Master of Computer Application programme is specially designed and structured to impart comprehensive knowledge with equal emphasis on theory and practice to provide an innovative blend of software and hardware learning experiences. Inclining more towards Fundamentals of Computing, it emphasizes upon Application Development, and therefore, the latest programming languages and tools are imparted to develop better and faster applications.
Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College is the primary and prominent choice for graduates with maths background at intermediate level, to pursue this professional course. The MCA course is affiliated to Andhra University and approved by AICTE, MHRD, New Delhi. The MCA department with more than 25years of professional expertise has the best infrastructure, like, spacious class rooms, laboratories, and both physical and digital library. Besides conventional classroom teaching, smart classes with relavant ICT infrastructure facilities are regularly carried out in seminar halls designated for the course. Apart from theoretical concepts, students are also given extensive practical exposure in well equipped laboratories for all the subjects, thus providing a holistic and Value-added education. The students are given add-on orientantion in latest industry based developments and trends.

Programme Highlights

• Student intake : 120 (84 under convener quota and 36 under management quota)

• Course duration : 2 years (full time)

• Admission criteria : Any science graduate with Mathematics as a subject at Intermediate level and a qualifying rank in APICET (a state- wide common entrance exam conducted by APSCHE) Candidates with aggregate marks of 50% (45% in case of reserved categories - SC,ST and BC) are eligible to apply

• Programme pattern : 4 Semesters. Each semester has 5 theory papers and 2 practical Papers (Lab Sessions). In the 4th semester along with the theory papers there is a viva voce examination. Total marks consist of Internal assessment 30% and External assessment 70%.

With proficient knowledge in various technologies, one becomes eligible for placements in both Government sectors namely ISRO/DRDO and multiple private sectors like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, TCS etc., Following are the lucrative job positions on offer like, System Analysts, System Designers, Quality Analyst, Project Manager, Software Application Architect, Software Programmer and IT Managers in relevant fields of IT.

PEDAGOGY

The curriculum prescribed by Andhra University provides competent theoretical and practical knowledge in Computer Science. Apart from the regular Lab sessions, students are free to make use of the three full-fledged computer laboratories available for the department. In order to further augment their core knowledge with the requisite specialized technical skills, the department offers additional courses and activities like – Communication skills, Soft skills, Analytical skills, online tests, seminars, guest lectures and assignments that support learning which prepares students to cope with the constantly evolving technological environment. The department also offers other structured add-on programmes to enlighten the students on the emerging market trends.

The department follows diversified approaches to different aspects of learning. Modern methods of teaching are adopted to develop computational and algorithmic thinking in students that enable them to construct and evaluate different programs and solutions. Thus, nurturing creative thinking among advanced learners.

The knowledge imparted is reinforced through abstraction and variety of inputs expressed imperatively. Students are motivated to register for the high-end NPTEL courses and are provided guidance and assistance in getting certified for such courses.
