PROFILE

Established in 1994, the Department of Computer Science has continually enhanced its competence, becoming a preferred destination for M. Sc. Computer aspirants from across Andhra Pradesh. The department currently admits 48 students into this programme, with 40 seats filled through APPGCET counselling and 8 through management quota, following APSCHE guidelines. The department’s primary objective is to develop skilled IT professionals aligned with global industry demands by delivering a comprehensive and industry-focused curriculum.

Pedagogy

The M. Sc. programme in Computers is conducted in line with Andhra University's norms and guidelines. Over the years, the department has refined its pedagogy and subject delivery. In addition to the standard curriculum, the department provides supplementary knowledge through guest lectures, seminars, and workshops, encouraging students to participate in inter-institutional events. The evolving needs of the industry are met through add-on programmes that bridge the gap between academic learning and required skills.

The department is equipped with modern computer, digital electronics, and data communication laboratories, ensuring the practical application of theoretical concepts. A dedicated seminar hall with an LCD projector and audio system facilitates seminars and guest lectures. The library houses relevant books, journals, and periodicals, with a 100 Mbps internet connection available for students.

Promotion of Technology

As IT is a core focus, the Department of Computer Science actively promotes the use of technology within the college, developing software to automate manual processes and training staff in technology utilisation. Initiatives include:

Online Student Examination System: Enables objective examinations within the campus, used during on-campus recruitment.

Online Student Feedback System: Assists the IQAC in collecting online feedback from students on faculty, infrastructure, and facilities, enhancing efficiency.

Student Fee Tracking System: Automates and tracks fee payments, streamlining financial processes for the administrative department.

The department extensively utilises audio and video technology for teaching, with both faculty and students making full use of the Internet and digital library resources. Committed to sustainability, the department aims to make all operational processes paperless in the future.
